The advanced design of Ayalytical Instruments low pressure vacuum distillation apparatus ensures compliance with ASTM D1160, for determining the distillation characteristics and range of boiling points of various petroleum-based products, biodiesels, and fractions that may decompose if distilled at atmospheric pressure, and that may be vaporized at a maximum liquid temperature of 400C.

The apparatus for reduced pressure distillation is comprised of a 500 ml borosilicate glass flask complete with insulating mantel, a vacuum jacketed distillation column with fused condenser, 200 ml jacket receiver, vacuum distillation apparatus connections, and a cold trap for vapor condensation. The vacuum distillation apparatus features an electric heater with electronic regulator for increased temperature control, a digital temperature indicator for easy readability, a thermocouple sensor for measuring vapor temperature, a vacuum pump, a manostat, a vacuum gage featuring a mercury manometer (mercury not included), and a transfer bath. The reduced pressure distillation apparatus is enclosed in a finished, anodized aluminum structure with PMMA protection for maximum durability.

Ayalytical Instruments offers the vacuum distillation kit as a standard manual model for affordable, small-scale operations, and a semi-automatic model for the convenient, partially-automated testing of larger numbers of samples.
