Guaranteeing full compliance with ASTM D189, DIN 51 551, IP 13, and ISO 6615:1993, AyalyticalInstruments Gas Conradson apparatus is ideal for the manual determination of the coke-formingproperties of petroleum oils. The instrument works to heat the oil sample in a porcelain crucible over agas flame for a predetermined period of time. The carbon residue remaining following the evaporationand pyrolysis is then cooled, weighed, and calculated as a mass percentage of the original sample.

Designed with procedural efficiency in mind, the conradson carbon residue apparatus is comprised of a Meker lamp withsafety valve for the quick heating of liquefied petroleum gas, and three concentric crucibles: an Innerheat-resistant glazed porcelain crucible with approximate 30 ml capacity; a center Skidmore ironcrucible, flanged and ringed, and fitted with cover; and an external sheet-iron crucible fitted with cover. The carbon residue test apparatus also comes equipped with an insulating ring block for the maintenance of severetemperatures up to 550C, a metal tripod holder with bare Nichrome triangle for the superior stabilityand support of crucibles during testing, and a sturdy, circular sheet-iron hood with stainless steel, easy-clean chimney for the safe diversion of test vapors.
