The calculated heat of combustion of fuels is the key indicator to how far airplanes, surface effect vehicles, hydrofoils, and other weight-limited vehicles can travel on a given weight of fuel. In operating this heat of combustion analyzer, a weighed test sample is burned inside an oxygen bomb calorimeter under controlled conditions, with heat of combustion calculated based on changes in temperature during the combustion process.
The safe, dependable combustion analyzer apparatus is comprised of two major components, the Mahler bomb calorimeter cylinder and the calorimeter vessel. The stainless steel calorimeter cylinder boasts a capacity of 300 ml and is equipped with a cover with threaded sliding ring for manual closure. Designed with operator safety in mind, the cylinder also features Neoprene gaskets along the cover’s edge for automatic closure under pressure, along with an inlet valve with automatic closure, a needle valve for safe exhaust outlet, and two stainless steel electrodes for easy connection to the calorimeter vessel.
The easy-to- operate calorimeter vessel features a simple push button ignition, low voltage auto-transformer, dual external electrode connections, and a low velocity motorized stirrer with crucible support. This jacket comes equipped with a handle for safe extraction, two sets of pliers for gentle thermometer handling, and a poly-carbonate cover with holes for insertion of included blade stirrer.
