Raising the bar in crude and fuel oil extraction
Ensuring compliance with ASTM D473, IP 53, and ISO 3735, Ayalytical Instruments’ crude oil and fuel oil apparatus is ideal for the determination of sediment in crude oils and fuel oils by extraction with toluene. The precision of this instrument allows for the testing of a range of sediment levels from 0.01 to 0.40% mass. Test samples are placed in the refractory extraction thimble. Once the toluene is slowly boiled, its vapors are then dripped into the funnel, rinsing off any crude or fuel oil. The remaining residue is then measured, its constant mass determining the sediment by extraction.
This simple apparatus comes equipped with all required implements for this extraction procedure, including a 1000 ml Erlenmeyer flask, stainless steel basket with porous Alundum extraction thimble, quick-cooling metal condenser coil, and glass cup for water collection.
