Electric Conradson

Reliable, reproducible residue testing at your fingertips
ASTM D2416,

								ASTM D2416,

Modern, modified design for the motivated user

Guaranteeing full compliance with ASTM D2416, Ayalytical Instruments’ Electric Conradson apparatus is ideal for the determination of the coking value of tar and pitch with an ash content of at or below 0.5%. The instrument works to heat the test sample in a porcelain crucible via electric furnace for a predetermined period of time. The carbon residue remaining following the evaporation and pyrolysis is then cooled, weighed, and calculated as a mass percentage of the original sample.

Designed with reliability in mind, the Electric Conradson contains a vertical electric muffle furnace for the quick heating of test samples, allowing for greater test reproducibility over its gas counterpart. Like the standard gas Conradson, the electric model is comprised of three concentric crucibles: an Inner heat-resistant glazed porcelain crucible with approximate 30 ml capacity; a center Skidmore iron crucible, flanged and ringed, and fitted with cover; and an external sheet-iron crucible fitted with cover. The apparatus also comes equipped with an insulating ring block for the maintenance of severe temperatures up to 1100ºC in accordance with modified Conradson methods, a metal tripod holder with bare Nichrome triangle for the superior stability and support of crucibles during testing, and a sturdy, circular sheet-iron hood with stainless steel, easy-clean chimney for the safe diversion of test vapors.
