Introducing the FeDDI: Automated Iron Corrosion Analysis for Reliable Results
The Iron Digital Detection Imaging (FeDDI) sets a new benchmark in corrosion testing by combining cutting-edge technology with ease of use. The problem that laboratories often face when testing iron bullets in compliance with ASTM and NACE standards is that they tend to over-rate the samples by considering the entire corrosion cluster as a corroded area, which is inaccurate. Within those areas, some parts are not corroded. The FeDDI system can detect and show corrosion results in percentage with an accuracy of ±0.01%. Additionally, at lower ratings of A and B, manually counting the corroded area is a tedious task, but FeDDI performs this process automatically and efficiently. Its bias-free operation ensures consistent, and reliable results, making it an essential tool for laboratories and industries focused on quality control and compliance. By utilizing advanced optics and algorithms, FeDDI revolutionizes iron corrosion testing.
Designed to comply with ASTM D665, ASTM D7548, and NACE TM0172 standards, FeDDI eliminates subjective visual assessments with a high-resolution camera and fully automated process. In less than 6 minutes, 546 photos of the sample will be gathered to create an image with a pixel size of 2.8 million. A four-step algorithm identifies and rates corrosivity, providing digital documentation and classification.
Equipped with Ethernet, USB, and HDMI interfaces, FeDDI integrates seamlessly with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), enabling easy data sharing and analysis. A 10.1” LCD touchscreen for enhanced user interaction, and an easy-to-use NFX Handle ensures effortless sample handling and operation. The FeDDI achieves accurate ratings in under 6 minutes, saving time while maintaining reliability. It generates detailed, comprehensive 360° zoomable images of all sides of the bullet-shape sample, with a summary table of results, and optional manual overrides for expert verification. With a compact design of 14” x 12” x 11” (36 x 31 x 28 cm), FeDDI is ideal for laboratory environments.
