Corrosion on steel pipelines and tanks can leadto destructive leaks that can cost millions to fixand cause irreversible environmental damage. As a result, industries spend billions each year to slow down the natural process of corrosion. The National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) indicates that small amounts of water, air, and polar compounds are some of the biggest threats to petroleum pipelinecorrosion. As such, NACE carefully monitorslevels of corrosion by testing the interior ofpipes for these substances. The NACE system of testing is dependentupon a manual rating process in which the operator must quantify small percentages of corrosion by visually inspecting a test specimenthat has been bathed in a mixture of testfuel and distilled water. This method is highly susceptible to operator error. In addition, dueto differences in visual acuity, results arenot repeatable.
The National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) requires companies to carefully monitor the levels of corrosion by regularly testing the interior of pipes and tanks used in the oil and gas industry. The Iron/Rust Digital Detection Imaging (FeDDI) is here to simplify the laborious process of quantifying the level of corrosion when testing manually. With the FeDDI rust analyzer, you save time, money and resources with our automated method replacing the inherently difficult visual quantification referenced in NACE testing methods TM0172 and ASTM D665. After scanning a specimen's entire surface area, corrosion coverage is quantified digitally. It uses our patented four-step automated VISION Algorithm and classification process to eliminate user bias and provide repeatable results. Rust corrosion results you can trust.
FeDDI, from Ayalytical (USA), was designed to solve the difficulty rating of NACE TM0172 and D665 specimens accurately. It uses a four-step automated vision algorithm and classification process to eliminate user biasand provide repeatable results. After scanning specimens entire surface area, corrosion coverage is quantified. FeDDI provides an incomplete automated method, which replaces the inherently difficult visual quantification referenced in NACE TM0172 and ASTM D665.
