Controlled combustion at your fingertips
Guaranteeing full compliance with ASTM D1266 and IP 107 requirements, this dynamic combustion apparatus is ideal for determining the sulfur content of gasoline, kerosene, naphtha, and various other liquid petroleum products and additives with a sulfur mass concentration between 0.01 to 0.40 percent that can be completely burned in a wick lamp. Determination of sulfur content in liquid petroleum products is critical in predicting performance, handling, and processing properties, as the presence of sulfur compounds can be beneficial or detrimental, depending on the application. Test samples are burned in a closed system using a wick lamp. The sulfur is then absorbed and oxidized, with the sulfur concentration determined via the amount of sulfate present in the absorbent solution.
Mounted on a heat-resistant, epoxy-coated plate, this safe, dependable wick lamp combustion apparatus is comprised of a vacuum manifold and a dual chimney-burner manifold for the safe maintenance of the carbon dioxide-oxygen testing environment. Designed to deliver the maximum in operator control, the chimney, burner, and vacuum lines are equipped with manual regulator valves, while the vacuum and gas lines feature leak-proof gate valves. Additionally, the vacuum line comes equipped with a flow-meter for the accurate monitoring and control of air stream. This apparatus comes complete with all required lamp assembly components, including 25 ml flask, absorber, and glass burners and spray traps. Additional features include Pyrex regulators, metallic collectors for vacuum lines, and chimney line traps.
The sulfur lamp extraction apparatus is available in two-position and six-position models for the simultaneous testing of multiple aromatic samples and non-aromatic samples, respectively. The vacuum and burner lines feature either two or six valves, corresponding to the maximum number of samples testable, as per model design.
